The Space Coast Strawberry Festival Prepares to Blast Off

January 30th, 2024 by

Are you looking for a weekend event that features a seven-foot-tall robot, alligator wrangling, a one-man band, performer parrots, axe throwing, a petting zoo, live music, and free-to-enter contests, all joined together at one location to celebrate the strawberry?

We might just have the thing for you.

The Space Coast Strawberry Festival kicks off this Saturday, February 3rd, and runs from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Admission is just $6 per person (free for children two and under), with simple re-entry throughout the day. (Parking is an additional $5.)

We’re counting down the days to the weekend here at Jackson Kia, Brevard’s premier Kia dealership. Here’s what you can expect from this year’s festival.

Strawberry Fests Forever

The Space Coast Strawberry Festival is a two-day outdoor family festival at the 38-acre Space Coast Daily Park in Viera. The exact location for your GPS is 5775 Stadium Parkway.

From strawberry picking to a strawberry pie eating contest, the festival celebrates all that makes the strawberry the fruit of love. With food and drinks, live performances, and countless activities to explore, you’ll want to clear your whole weekend to experience everything the festival has to offer.

The proceeds from the event benefit Drown Zero, an initiative to prevent drownings worldwide through education, awareness, and rescue equipment implementation. The program was made possible by the Cocoa Beach Rotary Club, in conjunction with the City of Cocoa Beach. With the help of Drown Zero, the festival aims to make our beautiful beaches safer for everyone.

Live Events & Performances

This year’s Strawberry Festival tests the limits of its 16-hour duration. Organizers have loaded the schedule with more live events and performances to experience than ever before. When you enter, be on the lookout for:

  • Jimmy Riffle of the Gator Boys: As seen on Animal Planet, Jimmy Riffle and the Gator Boys will display and handle the large reptiles throughout three different shows on both Saturday and Sunday.
  • The One-Man Band: Lifelong musician Marc Dobson plays nine self-created instruments at once in this semi-improvisational show that covers a wide range of music, from the 60’s through today’s hits. The One-Man Band performs on Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.
  • BOT the Robot: It’s hard to miss BOT – unless Paolo Banchero makes an appearance, this interstellar oddity will likely be the only seven-footer roaming the festival grounds. BOT is a comedic, singing, fist-bumping character who you can catch gliding about on his trademark scooter from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Squawk! The Amazing Bird Show: Debbie and Mark Obarka have been performing with their pet parrots for over 20 years. After years of performing at resorts and theaters, they’re back on the festival circuit with their beautiful, talented birds.

There’s also a children’s area, petting zoo, arts & crafts village with over 150 exhibitors, axe throwing, performances by The Pink Spice Band and The Groove Kids, and much more. This year’s biggest challenge may be experiencing everything the festival has to offer – and still making time for strawberry picking, of course.

Oh, and watch where you step, because you’ll probably run into this guy when you least expect it:

In addition, you can go to the festival’s website for information on entering any of the following contests:

  • Miss & Little Miss Space Coast Strawberry Festival
  • Berry Berry Cute Baby Contest
  • Mother-Daughter Look-Alike Contest
  • Strawberry Pie Eating Contest
  • Turkey Calling Contest

Start Planning a Berry Good Weekend

The Space Coast Strawberry Festival is just four days away, and it’s never too early to start game planning for the weekend. When you’ve had your fill of strawberries (if that’s a real thing), we’ll be waiting for you at Jackson Kia.

There’s a Car Show for you to check out at this year’s Strawberry Festival, but here at Jackson Kia you’ll find a year-round display of award-winning new and used Kia vehicles. From the Carnival MPV to the reliable Forte, you’ll find a reason to keep the celebration going all throughout 2024 when you shop at Brevard County’s home for all things Kia.
